Motion

After many years of selecting a single still image to define each elaborate set I was creating, a young girl commented on one of my still-standing sets and said, “that’s cool, but why don’t you make it move?”. Alas, I was compelled to roll up my sleeves and refuse to give up with a mere representative frame. These things needed to wiggle! Many years afterwards the wiggling has become earthquakes, trombone zooms, and silhouette-driven stop motion films. The characters range from whole persons, paper doll figures, and model clay figurines.

A special thanks to my son and Nick Park (the creator of Wallace and Gromit) who have inspired me greatly. Additional thanks to the the creators of the Domestika program and to some of my old friends from Mattel who aided much of my technical development for the animated vignettes.
